1What happened to Edinburgh House?
In September 2017, Edinburgh House rebranded to JewishChoice. It is just our name that has changed. We still have the same Board, the same management team and the same staff (many of whom have been here for 30 years).
2What is a campus and what does it offer?
JewishChoice is a community hub, providing a range of services. At our elderly care campus in North West London, we provide residential, respite and dementia care with short and long term options. On site, we also have Choice Court, consisting of 16 independent apartments, which provides the choice to remain independent, whilst being part of a small friendly community. And finally, we have our day care centre, the Choice Friendship Club. The club offers the opportunity to meet up in a warm friendly atmosphere where there is always something to talk about, an activity to take part in, entertainment, day out, food and drink.
3What does being a Jewish Home really mean?
Choice House is a kosher home under the auspices of the Sepahardi Kashrut Authority but residents are free to be as religiously observant or inactive as they wish and are comfortable with. We observe Shabbat and celebrate all the major Chagim, with the traditions of the festivals often being highlights of our annual calendar. The Jewish spirit is always evident but we are non-judgemental and never impose.
4Is your home just for Sephardi Jews?
No, our home is open to everybody. However, our original home was set up by the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish community in 1747. Today, Choice House is a kosher home under the auspices of the Sephardi Kashrut Authority.
5Can I bring my own belongings with me?
Whilst residents are supplied with all the furniture they will need, they and their families are encouraged to personalise their rooms with photographs, memorabilia and ornaments to ensure it is a home from home.
